"You really gonna do this?" Rune asked. "It makes me look bad."
"Oh, please," retorted Nova. "He was much more upset than you were. Now quiet and let me concentrate!"
The grey Percheron fell mercifully silent
"Now," smiled Nova, "to the hunt!"
"Where oh where are you hiding?" sang Nova. "Where oh where are you hiding? Where oh where are you hiding? When can you possibly be?"
She caught a movement in the shadows. "Gotcha." she whispered and smiled exposing her fangs. Slowly and quietly she crept along the buildings, stalking her prey. Tonight was the first time she hunted since her arrival in Mistfalls and she had to admit, it felt pretty good.
Slowly she snuck closer to the liquid shadow and she allowed her green eyes to turn red and her vampiric vision to take over. As she continued to get closer to the creature, it's instincts began to kick in and it felt itself being hunted. It took off running; Nova, of course, ran after it with a full-fanged smile.
"Now hell" Nova said to herself. "Where did it go?"
Just then she heard a topple of crates and a soft thump two alleys over and Nova knew the hunt was coming to an end.
"Nova stood at the head of the alley and smiled as her eyes melted back to green. "Here kitty, kitty, kitty..." she coaxed gently. "I request your assistance in grave matters." And Nova Black closed the distance between her and the stalked feline...
Several scratches, bites and hisses later along with the constant reassurance of "I'm not going to eat you!!", Nova walked out of the alley cradling a pitch black cat with pumpkin orange eyes and headed back towards Rune in the stables but stopped abruptly and looked down at the cat which she now realized was bony and underweight; it's fur dull and thin and wiry.
"What's your name?" The cat chirped then leaned up and touched its forehead to Nova's then settled back in her arms, "I don't have one." came a small, child-like voice into Nova's mind.
Nova nearly dropped the cat. "On all that is holy and sacred!" she breathed. "I can hear you!!"
The nameless cat purred. Looking around she noticed someone was watching them. Nova smiled her human smile and shrugged her shoulders in an awkward sort of wave so she wouldn't drop the cat.
"Hello!" she called cheerfully. "My cat got out," she lied. "So I had to come after him. It's a lovely night, isn't it?"
